Based on the poem by Russian poet Anna Akhmatova, White flock is a performance and video work in which Akhmatova’s poem is recited over a composition of the same title. I wrote the music for White flock for my second album Your Name is Safe in my Mouth. Performed in Russian by special guest Dasha for Melbourne’s Festival of Literature and Ideas, the piece speaks to the landscape of memory and the purposefulness of forgiveness. White flock was inspired by my experience living on Sakhalin Island, in Russia’s east.
